Friday Casualties: Melrose Place, Entourage, Gossip Girl and more

It's Friday, and you know what that means: the Olympics are almost over! Hurray! I can stop feeling bad that I can barely swim ten laps! Go back to your hole, Michael Phelps, and leave us couch potatoes alone. Who's with me?

...Oh. Well, anyway...

-- It's almost time for all the new fall shows to premiere, so in our Fall TV Preview, we let you know which shows to watch, which ones to skip and which ones we're on the fence about. Spoiler: Fringe sucks, but 90210 should be delicious.

-- But then, who cares about the new 90210 when there is the possibility of a Melrose Place reunion?! Oh please, oh please...

-- We did give My Own Worst Enemy a thumbs-up, though, and the fact that James Cromwell just joined the cast makes us feel even more confident about our decision.

--  Entourage returns on Sept. 7 (in the States, anyway), and in case you don't remember, the last season finale ended with the disastrous screening of Medellin at Cannes. The season opener begins with Richard Roeper tearing the movie to shreds, which you can watch here, although I really wish he had compared Vince's impression of Pablo Escobar to Tony Clifton.

-- I thought Gossip Girl was supposed to be fashion forward, not backward.

-- TV Guide released their list of the Top 10 Annoying TV Couples, and this guy is really angry Ross and Rachel didn't make the list. Uh, hello, Heidi and Spencer, anyone?

-- Linda Stasi of the New York Post is annoyed with the E! Special Celebrity Crisis: 10 Most Shocking Mental Disorders, pretty much calling bullshit on the entire list. She kinda has a point.

-- The O.C.'s Benjamin McKenzie is in talks to play an L.A. cop on a new show with Regina King. Ooh, can he only arrest people from Chino?

--  Jason, the guy DeAnna dumped on the season finale of The Bachelorette, has just been chosen to be the next Bachelor. Oh, good, I was worried I'd have a break from those vomit-inducing shows. Lucky me.

-- Ever wonder about the faces that go along with some of your favourite (or not-so-favourite) cartoon voices? You're welcome.

-- For some reason, Khloe Kardashian is going to be on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice. And you were worried they were running out of ideas.

-- Take a look at some of the roles your favourite actors almost got.

-- Beth (from Season 2 of The Real World and pretty much every Real World/Road Rules Challenge ever since) not only got married, but she's preggers, too. Did she have to knock the guy out before she got him to knock her up?

--  And, in my favourite discovery of the week (possibly of the year), you can now follow the Mad Men characters on Twitter. And they'll write you back! (Yes, this is much like the Twittering that S.A.R.A.H. from Eureka does.) I asked Joan how long it takes her to do her hair, and she replied, "I pin and curl my hair the night before - unless I'm not alone." I asked Don what kind of music he likes, and he said, "Why? Are you going to ask me to dance?" And I asked Paul what makes a man choose an ascot over a four-in-hand necktie and he answered, "Taste, my dear. Good old fashioned taste." I also asked Don what he thought of the idea "the bigger the lie, the more they believe," a line I took from The Wire, but I didn't mention that part since in "1962" they didn't have that show. Anyway, he said, "I always find what people will believe in their attempts to find happiness to be quite interesting." Can you tell how much I love this ad campaign? It's genius, really.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I think my favourite part of the weekend will be when the Olympic closing ceremonies are over. Suck it, physical fitness!
